Button-Making Machines & Accessories
Get started making your own buttons with the finest U.S.-made solid steel equipment and supplies you or your group can purchase at wholesale from us. You need to have a button assembly machine to use the parts to make buttons. Though this may seem obvious to most, we still get people ordering button parts who don't have a machine to assemble them, thinking they can press the parts together by hand. This is not possible; it requires tremendous force leveraged by the machine to press the metal button parts together to make a finished button. Design your own buttons on your computer, print them out on your color printer (or a color copier). Cut the printed paper with the Graphic Punch die-cutters and assemble the buttons using the machines we offer. These tools will make it possible for your to cut, assemble and press out your own finished buttons locally, inexpensively and quickly. You may still want to go to us for larger print runs or other shape buttons.
Having your own button machine for small runs is a great way to be able to produce buttons at the last minute, in literally less than one hour. Even the fastest rush service from anywhere else (including us) will take one day to process (make, email proof and wait for your OK of the proof), one day to print and overnight shipping to get to you the fastest way. That adds up to three working day (excluding weekends and holidays). D.I.Y. (do-it-yourself) production can shorten that to literally under one morning or afternoon to design, print, cut out, assemble and produce finished buttons for any last-minute need for an event. The major trade-off is: you're trading paying someone else to do that work, for putting in your own time and skill to make the buttons. Some people prefer doing-it-themselves, others would rather pay someone else to do it for them.
We offer the equipment you need to make buttons yourself. Keep in mind that the machine is sent to you directly from the manufacturer. Usually they will have all size machines in stock at all times. They continually manufacture machines in the midwest factory.
Do-it-yourself button making is focused, repetitive work, that yeilds the best results when attentionis paid to detail. The reward is in making a quality product, spreading the word and raising awareness of a cause or issue you care about. It is a unique and creative way to raise money with great potential.
The parts are inexpensive, the process takes just a few simple steps and the price you sell the finished button for makes them an ideal fundraiser for those willing to make the investment of purchasing a machine, and putting in the time and attention needed to make the buttons. An attractive design and timely, relevant messege will sell itself.
ONE INCH BUTTONS NOW CAN BE MADE AS
ZIPPER PULLS & TAGS
Now with the introduction of the Versa-Back™ attachment, in Fall of 2007, for the first time ever, one inch buttons can now be made into Zipper Pulls and also attached to key holders. The Versa-Back™ is an unbreakable black plastic insert with an extension with a 1/8" diameter hole to allow a variety of different kinds of attachments. The Versa-Back™ snaps, by hand, into the back of our 1" button parts (after the buttons have been assembled)
We offer three popular styles of key holders that can be attached to the Versa-Back™ fitted one-inch buttons:
The basic split ring style; the snap hook ring style and the C-Hook screw open/close style. They are all shown further down this page. The Versa-Back™ is easily snapped into the back of the one inch button by hand and the zipper pull or key tag holder is attached to the unbreakable Versa-Back™ You can also put a ball-chain or string cord through the Versa-Back™ to create a necklace with the one inch button(s). We don't carry the ball-chains or cords (you can find these items in most hardware stores). These can be sold as fundraisers, as a functional new use of the one inch size button.
• Note: the Versa-Back™ works best with the one-inch button parts that we distribute. They are engineered and designed to work with these, even though they may work in other brand one-inch buttons. If the Versa-Backs™ don't work on your pre-made one inch buttons you may return them for a full refund of the cost of the Versa-Backs™
You decide what's best for you and your group. Sometimes the trade-off will change with age and experience. Get your school, club, college or local print or copy shop to purchase the machine. It will be a long-term investment in a machine that will last for many decades. You may consider starting a small business of your own making buttons for local bands, organizations, clubs, group fundraisers, shops, schools, universities, teams (Go Reds, Beat State!"), community groups and events, religious groups, libraries, hospitals, births ("It's a Newborn!") co-ops ("Shop Locally"), flea markets, political parties, local candidates, birthday parties, weddings, reunions, anniversaries, annual get-togethers, street fairs, local band shows, protests, pickets, civil disobedience actions...the possibiliies and opportunities are everywhere.
IMPORTANT! The Graphic Punch cuts a circle that is larger in diameter than the finished button. This is neccessary to allow the paper to wrap around onto the back of the button so it can be pressed in the button machine together into a finished button. So if you want a Graphic Punch that cuts out a circle that is 1" in diameter, (or any of the finished button sizes we offer) these machine are not what you need.

It's a fun way to raise money at any event, too. Set up a table for the button machine, display samples and put out a sign. You can charge a dollar or two and have people draw their own design and/or message with colored markers. You assemble it right there at the event, in about seven seconds. At a dollar a button, you make 90˘ on each button. You can reasonably charge $1.50 to $2.00 as a retail price for any size made-to-order, one-of-a-kind button these days Charge $3 or more for the larger 2.25" and 3" size button. People who make photo buttons charge up to $8 Share the cost of purchasing the machine with another group, to make it more affordable to both groups. Zipper Pull Versa-Back™ for One Inch Button
$1.00
ZPVB-4pack
Package of eight sets to convert any one inch button into a Zipper pull. This is a new, patented snap-in device that converts our one inch button into an item that key holders can be hooked on to. The unbreakable insert replaces the lock pin. In place of the lock pin you snap in the Versa-Back™. It works best with the one inch button parts we carry. You can retrofit one inch buttons you already have in your own collection. In our experience they may or may not fit other brands of one inch buttons. Once the Versa-Back™ is snapped in, it is a permanent, secure back with a 1/8th inch hole extending out from the back of the button. Because the Versa-Back™ is a permanent change from a pin back button to something else, be sure you want to make this conversion.
We offer four types of attachments to the Versa-Back, which make the former button into a unique and functional entirely different thing than a pin back button. The Zipper Pull is just one thing you can do. No machinery needed. You just snap the new back in after remoiving the lock pin. Then attach the clip to the Versa-Back™ed button, and clip it onto any zipper on a back pack or hand bag. You can also put a cord or ball-chain necklace through, to create a necklace. (Ball-chains are sold by the foot at hardware stores)
